In continuation of my Despatch No.--
156 of 11th. instant, I have the honour to inform you that
the Chief Justice on receipt of my letter which formed an
enclosure to that Despatch requested that a Meeting of the
Executive Council should be surmoned at which he should be
present. He was accordingly invited to attend the meeting
of Council which was held on Monday the 22nd. instant.

His Honour then explained that he
had not intended to convey that I had in any way mis-
-represented to Your Lordship the advice he had given to
the Council. What I had said in my Despatch was strictly
accurate, and the object of the Memorandum which he had
desired me to transmit was to correct a misapprehension
which he thought existed in Your Lordship's mind from the
terms
